The Corvette is a car that needs no major modifications to be a serious performer. That doesn’t stop many aftermarket companies from taking on the task and turning a fast car into an even faster car. What about trucks though? More useful for pulling a race car than actually racing, pickup trucks are never the less the best selling vehicle in the country. So why don’t we have more performance pickups?
AutoBlog reports that Callaway Corvettes, synonymous for their work with Corvettes, is undertaking a Chevy Silverado project. And yes, it will be supercharged.

Why a pickup? Callaway’s network of dealers (select Chevy dealerships) want more product, that’s why. Callaway has all but perfected the Corvette, and they’ve done some impressive things with the 2010 Camaro too. But Chevy sells more pickups than Camaros and Corvettes combined. There are more pickups sold in America than any other vehicle in the U.S.
Details right now are sketchy on exactly what this Callaway Siverado will be. In his interview with AutoBlog, Reeves Callaway (founder of Callaway Cars, naturally), stated his desire to make the pickup handle like a Corvette. Making a fast pickup is one thing (he says it will definitely be supercharged), but making it handle well is something else entirely. Callaway's engineering team specializes in chassis developments that will improve vehicle dynamics under all conditions, offering vast improvements in ride quality, along with which will come considerable handling improvements, at a considerably lower ride height. Also expect to see substantial improvements in wheel/tire/and braking systems.
Callaway will also be making styling changes to the body, along with a new exhaust system offering a signature style and acoustic characteristics.
The truck will also be lowered and have nice rims, and that is about all the details we have for now. We’ll keep our ear to the ground until we hear more.
