Putting a modern engine into a classic muscle car is nothing new. What makes this 1969 Camaro RS so special isn’t its 450 horsepower all-aluminum LS-1 motor, or that it is one of a set of six that is scheduled for the Barrett-Jackson auction in October. Rather, it is the level of detail, the number of high-quality components, and the sheer adoration and effort that Chimera Customs put into building this beautiful machine.
And now it can be yours thanks to
eBay, for the low, low price of just $95,000 (or best offer!)
Ok, that may not seem like much of a low price, but take a look at the options list and you’ll realize why it’s so expensive. Like its five siblings, this car is a frame-off restoration, though it is powered by a Turnkey Products all-aluminum LS-1 rather than the
Pat Musi 555 in the other cars. This is still good for 450 horsepower however, and is backed by a
Hughes Performance computer controlled 4L60E over drive transmission. Rather than a carburetor, the Camaro uses fuel injection, as well as a Rock Valley stainless steel fuel tank and
Be Cool radiator.
Suspension upgrades include
Hotchkis drop springs, control arms, sway bars. Drivetrain comes with a 12-bolt rear end with 3:73 gears. In addition to a $15,000 paint job, the Camaro gets all the creature comforts you’d expect out of a modern car including air conditioning, leather seats, carbon fiber gauges, GPS tracking, and a Custom
JL Audio sound system.
Chimera Customs claims to have receipts accounting for over $155,000, and are asking $60k less as an opening bid. If only I had the money...or at least a soul to sell.
