Timing is everything when it comes to the art of unveiling a new car or performance package. Make an announcement during a crowded premiere week, and the unveil could get lost in the hype surrounding other cars. On the other hand, unveil the car when there is nothing else going on and nobody around to hear, and the car could be similarly lost in obscurity.
According to
CorvetteBlogger, GM is planning to lift the curtain on a new Corvette Z06 variant before the 12 Hours of Sebring race in less than two weeks.

This race is the perfect place to unveil a new Corvette. There will be plenty of cameras and spectators on hand, without the over-crowded feeling that comes from auto show unveils. GM is upping the ante by keeping mum on exactly what will be shown, drawing curious onlookers as well as the motoring press. It would be too much to hope that GM was planning on finally making some kind of announcement on the next-generation C7, but what about a Z07?
Tadge Juechter, Corvette Chief Engineer, and Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Manager, will be on hand to unveil the new model, whatever it is. This post found over at
Corvette Action Center seems to indicate that a Z07 package would be mostly an upgrade to the Z06, borrowing bits from the ZR-1. Parts like a larger radiator, front and rear stabilizer bars and shocks, the ZR-1’s ceramic brakes and wheels. There might also be a carbon-fiber roof option and blacked-out mirrors. Sebring is only a few days away, so we’ll find out soon enough.
