When the NMCA invaded Atco New Jersey, they brought along some new faces. That's because it was the site of the first late model shootout. The event was an opportunity for Ford mod-motors, GM LS' and the new Dodge Hemi's to battle it out amongst themselves and then pitting the brands against each other.
The Mustang crowd was well represented by an experienced group of racers, which led to some quick et's and sharp reaction times. GM's fast growing LS racing industry feilded a solid group as well. The real passion and excitemnt seemed to come from the rookie Hemi crowd, which really has not had much of a chance to shine.
In the James Damore wins the Ford honors cutting a .090 light to the .075 os Steve Powell who ran over 3 tenths slower than his dial in. With the win and his .024 qualifying light James took over the top qualifying spot moving into the battle of the brands.
The red Corvette of Edgar Perez took the GM honors.
For the Hemi's, Christopher Dufresne and his silver 300c schooled the red Charger of Chris Janczy who got caught napping at the tree with a .315 light to a .131.

It all came down to the classic Chevy vs. Ford battle, with Edgar Perex and his Vette vs. James Damore's Stang. The result was a classic bracket race with James cutting a .068 light against the .130 light of the of Edgar, but that really didn't matter as both drivers broke out. James who broke out by just .003 seconds less than Edgar, Giving James and Ford the win in the inagrual event.
Sunday certainly went better than Saturday went for James Damore, when he backed his own trailer into his rear quarter. OPP's
