GM's road race ringer Jan Magnussen will be a busy guy this race season as he pilots the C6.R GT2 Corvette in ALMS competition and the Camaro GT.R in the Grand-Am road racing series.
Magnussen is well known in the world of sportscar racing and like GM's arch road racing rival Porsche, he's called into duty when a GM team needs an ace-in-the-hole. Stevenson Motorsports Manager Mike Johnson recently announced that Magnussen will be joining the team to co-drive the No. 97 Stevenson Motorsports 2010 Chevrolet Camaro GT.R with Gunter Schaldach for the balance of 2010 Grand-Am race schedule.

"We had such a great experience with Jan in the No. 57 car at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona" said Johnson. "When he said he wanted to do more races with us, it made sense to put him in the No. 97 car for the rest of the season. Simply stated, when one of the best sportscar drivers in the world wants to join your team, you find a place for him!"
At the Rolex 24, Magnussen co-drove the the No. 57 Camaro with Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell. The team took the GT class lead early in the race and held first place until Sunday morning. A gearbox problem forced the new car to the garage and down a good number of laps. Liddell, Davis and Magnussen steadily climbed back up in the GT standings and brought the Chevrolet Camaro across the finish line in fourth place.
Magnussen, who hails from Denmark, has made a name for himself in the states racing the Corvette C6.R in the ALMS series and at the 24 Hours of LeMans. He won the GT1 drivers championship in 2008 with the Corvette team and dabbled in the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype classes driving for GM powered teams.

Magnussen will run the entire Grand-Am season with the Stevenson team, with the exception of the VIR race and both Watkins Glen rounds. Despite the missed races, the Stevenson Motorsports team feels the addition of Magnussen will put them in championship contention in the first season the team is running the brand new Pratt & Miller built Camaro.
