One project the shop has taken on is a 1959 Chevrolet Impala that they have made in to a twin-turbo'ed, fire-breather. First, they stripped the car of its powertrain and interior. Then they hoisted the '59 up on a rotisserie to restore the undercarriage. They patched up any imperfections and laid down a protective layer of red oxide to make sure everything stays good in the future and giving it that nice clean look.
The engine they used was a LS2 iron block punched out to 370 cubic inches. The reciprocating assembly was all forged (crank, rods, and pistons) so it would support the power produced by the twin turbos. A built 4l80E transmission was used to withstand the ponies put out by the dual hairdryers. Next, Speed Inc. upgraded the fuel system including in house- built custom fuel rails and a set of large fuel injectors. A 9-inch rear end was used due to its high tolerances. All this is controlled by a Big Stuff 3 PCM system.
As for the exterior of the Impala, a nice set of 18-inch wheels easily grabs your attention. An Air Ride suspension system was added allowing the owner to adjust the ride height as desired. Speed Inc did a great job with this resto-mod and the Impala definitely a real head turner.
