The Ring Road around the town of Nürburg in Germany was completed in 1927, after two years of construction. Originally intended to show off German automotive prowess, it remains a proving ground for manufacturers worldwide today.
With 154 turns around the 12.9-mile circuit, the drive is as challenging as any you might encounter. Two years ago, Cadillac set a record lap time of 7:59 with the CTS-V sedan. Now, General Motors is returning to the track to recreate the experience for television.
The Ring may not have seen quite the diverse collection of vehicles in a while. Aside from the test car, camera vehicles and equipment carriers litter the roadway as Pikes Peak Class Champion, Jeff Zwart, directs a film crew in search of the most evocative shots.
